Orange County Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is performed to enhance the size and volume of a woman's breasts by using FDA approved saline or silicone implants. A thin incision is made in one of four locations: around the areola, under the fold of the breast, through the armpit, or through the belly button. A pocket it made under the muscle and the implant is carefully placed for a natural looking result.

Both saline and silicone implants are popular amongst Orange County breast surgery patients; however, silicone implants tend to look and feel more natural because they more closely mimic the texture of natural breast tissue. During your consultation, you and your breast surgeon will discuss which size and type implant is best for you and your goals. Implants come in three profiles: high profile for a narrower base and more projection, moderate profile which has a wider base and less projection, and moderate plus which is in between.

Immediate recovery from breast augmentation lasts from a few days to a week, but patients will need to avoid heavy lifting and exercise for 4-6 weeks. Patients should wear a sports bra for a minimum of one month after surgery. Implants tend to ride high for the first month or two after surgery, but will settle into place. Orange County breast surgery patients will also be instructed to massage after breast augmentation to keep the implants soft and to reduce the risk of capsular contracture.

 

Orange County Breast Lift & Breast Reduction

 

To achieve the best possible results, Orange County breast surgery patients may also require a breast lift. This can be performed either alone or in conjunction with a breast augmentation. Breast lifts are performed to correct breast sagging (or ptosis) by removing excess skin and lifting the breasts.

Orange County breast surgery patients have several options when it comes to breast lifts. For minimal sagging, patients may opt for a Benelli lift (also known as a donut lift), where and incision is made around the areola and excess skin around is removed to create better placement of the nipple and areola. This is ideal for a very small amount of patients.

Most patients require either a vertical or wise mastopexy. A vertical mastopexy removes excess skin below the breast to tighten and lift the breast. The incisions leave a thin scar around the areola and down the center of the breast, giving it the nickname the "lollipop lift". When more skin needs to be removed or if a patient requires excess tissue to be removed for a breast reduction, an incision is made around the areola down the center of the breasts and underneath the fold. This is commonly known as the "anchor lift".

Orange County breast surgery patients who undergo a breast lift or breast reduction often recover much quicker than breast augmentation patients because the muscle is not involved in the procedure. Most patient require about 1 week downtime, but sometime take up to 2 weeks off of work.
